Travel Insurance

When entering the country / SR / each traveler must have commercial health insurance or need to have a European Health Insurance Card / EHIC /. The card must be asked from the health insurance company. Free medical assistance is provided in the urgent cases endangering the life and health of the person. According to EU directives 1408/71 no. 574/72 the urgent and essential care is provided under the same conditions as domestic insurance, but it is necessary to count on the participation of the patient. Therefore it is recommended commercial insurance in the domestic country of traveler.

Visa Information

For entry into the Slovakia travelers must fulfill the conditions laid down by its laws. Current conditions of entry and residence in Slovakia can be found at the Consulate of the country.

From 26th of June 2012 comes into force the EU regulation that every child who travels beyond the home state must have their own passport.

Currency information

Slovakia is a member of the European Union since May 2004 and is a member of the Economic and Monetary Union. By the year 2008, used their own currency Slovak crown but since 2009 in Slovakia is used the EURO.

Safety in Slovakia

The security situation is the same as in other European countries. A suggest to carefully keep your travel documents, funds and luggage. If they have been of lost or stolen, the police should be called and report the loss of documents to prevent their misuse.
